Performance Lab Caffeine 2 falls short.
A low-dose caffeine capsule from Performance Lab: 50mg natural caffeine with 100mg L-theanine (a 2:1 ratio), 250mg L-tyrosine and four B-vitamins, with every dose on the label. EU orders ship from the brand's European depot in 4-12 working days (per performancelab.com's shipping page, checked 2026-10-05); we could not confirm a euro price.
What it does
Performance Lab Caffeine 2 is a stimulant capsule sold through performancelab.com. Each vegan pullulan capsule holds 50mg natural caffeine from Coffea robusta seeds, 100mg L-theanine, 250mg L-tyrosine and NutriGenesis vitamins B2, B6, folate and B12; a bottle holds 30 capsules. The label suggests 1-2 capsules on an empty stomach, up to a maximum of 5 capsules (250mg caffeine) a day. Per performancelab.com's shipping page (checked 2026-10-05), EU orders are shipped from the brand's depot in Europe; the page does not list individual EU countries, so confirm delivery to your country at checkout.
How it works
Caffeine blocks adenosine receptors, which dulls fatigue signals and raises alertness. L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea, is added at a 2:1 ratio to caffeine; Performance Lab cites human trials of theanine-plus-caffeine combinations for this pairing, but Caffeine 2 itself has not been tested in a published trial. L-tyrosine is a building block of dopamine and noradrenaline, and the vendor includes it to support the neurotransmitters that caffeine draws on. The four B-vitamins (B2, B6, folate, B12) supply 38-83% of the US Daily Value per capsule. Supplements sold in the EU fall under Directive 2002/46/EC, so the label may carry only EU-authorised health claims, and the EU register holds no authorised caffeine claim for alertness or concentration (a caffeine alertness claim was refused under Regulation (EU) 2016/1411).
What to expect
Performance Lab says Caffeine 2 starts working in around 15-30 minutes. One capsule gives 50mg caffeine; two capsules (100mg caffeine, 200mg L-theanine, 500mg L-tyrosine) bring all three actives into the ranges used in our dosing audit. Count it toward your daily caffeine intake. EU delivery is expected in 4-12 working days depending on destination (per performancelab.com's shipping page, checked 2026-10-05). We saw only US-dollar prices ($44 one-time for 30 capsules) when we checked, so confirm the euro total at checkout.

Ingredient quality
Number and quality of evidence-graded ingredients. Trademarked extracts and standardized actives raise this score.
Dosing vs. clinical evidence
How many ingredients meet their clinical-trial dose. Underdosing flagship actives is the biggest score deduction.
Formula transparency
Full disclosure of every ingredient at its exact dose. Proprietary blends are scored as opaque.
Value for money
Cost per month relative to per-serving clinical doses delivered. Cheaper products with underdoses score lower.
