Verdict

Pre Lab Pro falls short.

A low-caffeine pre-workout drink powder from Performance Lab. One 13g scoop gives 80mg natural caffeine, 160mg L-theanine and 400mg L-tyrosine, all within the ranges in our dosing audit, plus a 2,200mg Setria for Sport blend (L-citrulline and glutathione, split not disclosed) and 1,500mg red beet powder that are unlikely to reach the doses used in performance trials. EU orders ship from the brand's European depot in 4-12 working days (per performancelab.com's shipping page, checked 2026-10-05); we could not confirm a euro price.

What it does

Pre Lab Pro is a natural-berry-flavoured pre-workout powder sold through performancelab.com; the buy buttons on its own site, prelabpro.com, link to that product page. A tub holds 20 servings of one 13g scoop, mixed into 300ml of water and taken 15-30 minutes before training, with no more than 2 scoops in 24 hours. Each scoop also supplies 500mg Himalayan pink salt, vitamin D3 from algae, B2, B6, folate, B12, potassium and iron. It is vegan, and the vendor states it is 'third-party tested and validated by Informed Sport'; the product page shows no certificate or batch number. EU orders are shipped from the brand's depot in Europe; the shipping page does not list individual EU countries, so confirm delivery to your country at checkout.

How it works

Caffeine (80mg) blocks adenosine receptors to dull fatigue signals, and L-theanine (160mg, a 2:1 ratio) plus L-tyrosine (400mg) are the nootropic trio from Performance Lab's Caffeine 2 capsule at higher amounts. L-citrulline is converted to arginine and then nitric oxide, and beetroot supplies dietary nitrate, a second nitric-oxide source; the vendor includes both for blood flow, strength and endurance. Glutathione, an antioxidant, makes up the rest of the Setria for Sport blend. Himalayan pink salt (200mg sodium) and potassium act as electrolytes. Pre Lab Pro itself has not been tested in a published trial; the vendor's claims rest on ingredient-level research. Supplements sold in the EU fall under Directive 2002/46/EC, so the label may carry only EU-authorised health claims, and the EU register holds no authorised caffeine claim for alertness or concentration (a caffeine alertness claim was refused under Regulation (EU) 2016/1411).

What to expect

Performance Lab says Pre Lab Pro starts working in around 15-30 minutes. The vendor calls the 80mg caffeine dose moderate, and two scoops (its 24-hour limit) give 160mg; count it toward your daily caffeine total. The citrulline and beet amounts are below the doses used in performance trials, so any blood-flow or endurance benefit from them is uncertain. EU delivery is expected in 4-12 working days depending on destination (per performancelab.com's shipping page, checked 2026-10-05). We saw only US-dollar prices ($59 one-time for 20 scoops) when we checked, so confirm the euro total at checkout.

Hero ingredients

  • Caffeine80mg
  • L-Theanine160mg
  • L-Tyrosine400mg
  • L-Citrulline2200mg blend (split undisclosed)
  • Beetroot1500mg

Who it's for

  • Caffeine, L-theanine and L-tyrosine all within our dosing-audit ranges
  • Moderate 80mg caffeine per scoop
  • Vendor states Informed Sport testing, relevant to drug-tested athletes

Who should skip

  • Only 20 scoops per tub ($2.95 a serving at the $59 one-time price); the vendor's monthly plan delivers one tub, so a scoop every day would need more than one tub a month
  • Setria for Sport blend (2,200mg) does not split L-citrulline and glutathione; even if it were all citrulline it would sit below the roughly 3g low end of citrulline trials
  • 1.5g red beet powder with no stated nitrate content, very likely far below the roughly 6-8 mmol of nitrate used in beetroot trials
